Book signings, author visits & special projects
MARCH 14-27—Simon
& Schuster Pulse Blogfest event (online)
I’m one of a number of young adult authors who will
be participating in this event. Among other things, we authors
are responding to questions submitted by teen readers and
writers. For more information about the event, visit
this website.
APRIL 16—Author
Panel Discussion at Borders Bookstore in Dallas (7 PM)
I’ll be joining authors Dan Gutman and Coleen
Paratore to discuss our books and also writing for young people
at the Borders Bookstore at Preston & Royal. (10720 Preston
Rd., Suite 1018, Dallas, Texas—214-363-1977)
APRIL 17-18—Texas
Library Association Convention, Dallas, Texas
I’ll be signing books at the Simon & Schuster
booth (#1221) from 3-4 PM on Thursday afternoon.
I’ll be attending the TLA Joint Publishers Reception
at the Hyatt Regency from 5:30-7:00 PM on Thursday evening,
and I’ll be at the Simon & Schuster Author Dinner
that begins at 7:00 PM on Thursday evening.
I have some free time on Friday at the Convention, so if you’ll
be there and would like to discuss an author visit or my books,
just let me know.
JUNE 14—Author visit
to Grand Prairie Memorial Library, Grand Prairie, Texas (2:00
PM)
I’ll be giving a talk on books and writing,
as well as talking about how I went from freaky middle-school
misfit to successful, reasonably well-adjusted author. (901
Conover Dr., Grand Prairie, Texas—972-237-5713)

MARCH—Author visit
to Saint Mary's Hall, San Antonio, Texas (week of the 23rd)
With our transatlantic move behind us, I’m opening up
my schedule to accept new author visit requests. My normal
speaking fee is $1000 plus travel expenses for a visit of
up to two days. Of course, I don’t require that the
visit be for two days. I’ll come for one hour if that's
all you want. But since the price doesn’t change whether
I come for one hour or two days, you get a bargain if you
engage me for a longer visit . This also allows you to split
the cost between schools or send me to more than one branch
of your library if you would like to do so.
Extrovert that I am, I’m
happy to hold as many engagements within that two days as
you and your neighboring libraries/schools can arrange. (My
personal record at one school was giving twenty-minute sessions
all day long with five-minute breaks in between, as well as
a “Meet the Author” lunch.) A two-day visit gives
me enough time to host a fiction-writing workshop if I can
meet with the same classes both days.
Because of an aggressive writing
schedule, I can accept only one visit request per month. If
you would like to request a visit during an available month,
please click on the Contact the
Author button at the right or email me at claredunkle.com
(my email name is clare). Or you can contact
Laura Antonacci, who handles author visits and publicity at
Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing at 212-698-2713
or author.appearances at simonandschuster.com.
When you contact us, please suggest
the days that will work best for you; my writing work is more
fluid than your curriculum, so chances are good that I will
be able to work with your date.
